The result of the Referendum for Aldingbourne’s Neighbourhood Development Plan is now in.
It was a resounding “YES” for the Plan with 93 % of the Votes in support of the Plan. This is a very positive result and shows almost unanimous support for the Neighbourhood Plan from the residents of Aldingbourne Parish. The turnout was 24% which sounds low but it is par for the course for this type of election. So we should not worry too much about that, although it would have been a pleasant surprise if it was larger.
The full result was as follows :- 674 – “Yes” 47 – “No”
Many thanks to those of you who took the trouble to go to the Polling Station and cast your vote. Your votes really did count in this election. The next important stage in the process will be for the Plan to be “Made”, which means ratified by the Full Council at Arun Civic Centre. This will happen on 9th November 2016. When this phase is completed the Aldingbourne Neighbourhood Plan will have Legal Status.
Once again, thank you to those who voted YES, because you have made it possible for Aldingbourne Parish to have a fully prepared and Legal Neighbourhood Plan.
